Augmented Reality Applications Will Bring Growth In Social Media
Aug 12th
Web 2.0 and Social Media are services in which information is provided by the user. These sites have known a phenomenal growth. While there is now talks about web 3.0 and 4.0, augmented reality applications could bring new life to web 2.0.
So far, augmented reality was about text or images. Although video content is available in web 2.0 website, it was mainly about past events. This was due to econo-technical limitations of the market: transferring real-time video streams requires special equipment which tend to be expensive to deploy. With the widespread adoption of smartphones and cheaper data transfer rates, scores have the opportunity to stream live video into social media.
This will bring a whole lot of user experience possibilities and will translate into an avalanche of augmented reality applications and of course, a big user-base that wasn’t so much into text and image. This is all good news for Web 3.0 because it will mean applications capable of reading and processing video streams in real-time to offer real-time search of videos and all sorts of other services.
Great things are still to come for web 2.0 and a lot of dynamics on the market. Word: watch for justin.tv.
